SHARE the Project is active all year round!

The happiest of holidays to you! It's been quite a year for SHARE and we are more than grateful for your support, your generosity, and your spirit.

This past year, we have made nearly a dozen Midnight Runs into the city, which gave our students a unique opportunity to expand their existing relationships with the homeless and hungry poor men and women they have had the privilege to know, while allowing them to extend themselves to new people on the street. We have had more involvement from our freshmen and sophomores which is exciting as they will become our future Board members. The Spring saw Project Prom, once again and through the efforts of our students and the communities at large, we were able to assist nearly 50 boys and girls with complete outfits for their proms at no expense to them! SHARE continued to forge deeper relationships with the Council on Unity at Forest Hills High School while Crossing Borders continued their exchanges with schools in the Bronx. We were also able to continue our tradition of offering scholarships to those seniors who have done social action and service to their communities. We have partnered with Network for Good and have learned more about the sensible business of not-for-profits and our team of 11 student Board members worked diligently to develop more ideas on creative fundraising. We kept our table full and our seats warm at the Hastings Farmers' Market this past year, with very eager students willing to talk about the work they do and then this November we celebrated our 30th Anniversary Thanksgiving Dinner for the Homeless. The elementary school children generously donated their much-loved and gently-used stuffed animals for our youngest guests at the dinner, while our middle school kids came and donated the gift of time to prep work and cooking for our feast the weekend before the event. SHARE is impassioned with all that we take on, always making room for more ideas.

At year's end whether you choose to give here or to another charity, please do so. After all, those holiday sweaters with Frosty's blinking and bedazzled corncob pipe on them grow pretty old pretty quickly, but the gift of supporting charitable works lives on in the growth and deeds of those who donate.

Please include in your holiday gift-giving, something extra for charities whose goal is to lessen the burdens of those who simply cannot do it themselves. And if you feel that we at SHARE work our hardest to do just that, you can donate here.

No matter how you celebrate, no matter where you will be, from our home to yours during this magical season of love and light, we wish you nothing but Joy, Peace, and the Happiest of New Years.
